3 New Year’s Resolutions for 2025

Welcome to 2025, everyone! I’m sure many of you have given some thought as to what you want this year to look like for yourselves and maybe even have some goals you would like to accomplish. After all.. what better way to begin than with some New Year’s resolutions, am I right?

I can feel you rolling your eyes.

When you get asked what your resolutions are every single January the question almost starts to lose its meaning. Yes, you’re meant to continuously grow and become better as a human being..

However you put so much pressure on yourselves to do, create, build, change, etc. and it becomes an overwhelming doom cloud that follows you around everywhere.

Then December arrives again and the same cloud is still dragging behind you.

Maybe the answer lies in taking a different approach; a much lighter one.

I like to view resolutions more as “guidelines” because life is already going to have its surprises for you.

So the first thing I am going to focus on is being uncomfortable. Yes, you read that correctly.

In this day and age, there are so many quick fixes, bandaids, and distractions that being uncomfortable has become a forgotten skill. Discomfort has come to mean “danger” when, in reality, it’s simply an experience.

Feeling uncomfortable helps you grow, learn, and become more comfortable long term. Don’t you just love paradoxes?

How many of you have anxiety?

That was a trick question. Everyone experiences anxiety.

The truth is, the only things you can control are your choices and actions. So choose wisely and practice leaning into discomfort. See what happens.

Secondly, I am working on slowing…down…

This one kind of goes hand in hand with leaning into discomfort.

I often catch myself speeding up when feeling stressed or anxious, as if I am The Flash. Of course, applying speed to anxiety.. only perpetuates the anxiety.

Pro Tip: Read Drew Linsalata’s book Seven Percent Slower.

The thing is, human beings are very good at fixing things in the moment as things go sour… and pretty bad at planning to fix things that may or may not go wrong in the future. That is not to say planning is bad…

But you owe it to yourself to slow down and trust in YOU. Believe that when something happens, ‘future you’ will have the skills and knowledge necessary to overcome anything life throws your way, even if that looks like seeking some help.

And I save the best for last… mobility.

Not all endeavors can be mental ones… c’mon.

I sit on the couch a lot. There, I said it.

It’s hard being a mom with a neuro-spicy brain, but sitting all the time ain’t doing me any favors; physically or mentally.

Ever hear the phrase “Movement is medicine”? Well they are absolutely correct. You will lose what you do not use.

Mobility training is great for injury prevention, being able to get on the floor to play with your kids, as well as improving your sex life.

Regardless, movement doesn’t need to be anything crazy.

You’re more likely to stay consistent if you’re doing something you enjoy.

Welp. There you have it; my 3 focal points that I will carry with me moving forward. What will you be working on?

Until next time!
